Towards Versatility of Aquatic Production Platforms:

Unlocking the Value of Nordic Bioresources

BIOECONOMY is already part of our everyday lives. Click to video to learn more!

Bioeconomy or bio-based economy offers strategies to combat against increase in atmospheric CO2 concentration as a consequence of our current fossil fuel-based economy and to diminish the gap between the supply and demand of food. On the way towards replacing the fossil-based linear economy with circular bio-based economy, it is paving the way towards sustainable production of bioenergy, chemicals, food and feed. This approach should also grow new jobs and industries.

The Nordic Road Map for the Blue Bioeconomy, completed under Finland’s Presidency in December 2016, has already summed up the cooperation required from Nordic countries to sustainably harness valuable marine living resources and develop new bio-based products from marine biomass.

With the power of cooperation and by sharing new concepts, the Nordic countries aim to rapidly grow the blue bioeconomy.
